We stayed here with my friend in April, 2010. Our windows faced Hagia Sophia, so it was like a miracle! The hotel was clean and nice. Rooms were small, but this is not so important if you spend the whole day outside. Location is very good, within 5 minute walk to main attractions. The hotel has exchange, cafes, tram stops near it... Nice breakfast. The only thing is the staff at the reception desk is not very friendly. But we will definitely return once more!

Hali is just wonderful for a three star hotel! I can give it even 4 stars. Location is perfect, right in the center of Istanbul. 5 minutes walk to Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque. I managed to get to my hotel by myself - by metro and tram. The hotel itself is small but cozy. Rooms have a table and two armchairs. Furniture is rather old but good. Good sound isolation. I had a bad experience with a 4 star hotel in Laleli where I heard nearly every word of my neighbors. Nice rooftop restaurant with a view on Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque. It’s definitely worth visiting to have breakfast there! Breakfast is plain: rolls, cucumbers, tomatoes, cheese, sausage and jams. i liked nearly everything! The area is very quiet. You can walk during nights without any fear. By the way, it’s cheaper when you pay cash. I had some troubles with my order when it was cancelled. Then I decided to leave a request at Hali hotel website. The answer was immediate, I booked a room and paid cash upon arrival, and it was for 25% cheaper (it took me 40 euro instead of 55). I didn’t mark 10 only because of old furniture and ordinary breakfasts.

Hotel’s advantages:
Very good location. Hali stands almost at Hippodrome Square, it is a stone’s throw from Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Cistern, several restaurants, cafes, shops, markets. We didn’t even hear the prayers, although our room was facing the yard.
Breakfasts at the open terrace with stunning views of Sophia, Blue Mosque, Bosphorus and marmara Sea - really amazing!
The interior was very colorful and bright, but only in the lobby and halls! Rooms are very standard and simple.
The staff is very friendly, they’re trying to help even if they don’t understand you well.

Hotel’s disadvantages:
Rooms are too small! The one smaller I saw only in Rome. First I was shocked and tried to change for another room, but the hotel was full, so I decided to resign, after all, I didn’t come to live there.
Breakfasts - lots of snacks and cheese with olives, but lack of meat. But I must say everything was really tasty and nourishing.

The next time we’ll try to stay here once more or may be choose another one but in the same district!

I think it’s an average hote lfor its category, the hotel looks old but renovated, staff didn’t speak very good English, and we had a hard time undertsanding him whe nasked for directions and I think in a hotel like that it should be a must for front desk personnel. But other that this complaib I didn’t have any major issues.

I often stay in hotels in Istanbul due to business trips, I can assure you hali is an average hotel. I had a problem with the door lock and had to wait for 30 minutes for someone to open the room. The furniture was old and broken too. They are located in a busy district so be aware it’s noisy at night.

this is not a luxury hotel and customer service was not what I expected. I would expect [people workign in hospitality to be more hospitable! Asked for more information o nthe neighborhood and the guy at the desk didn’t seem like he is too willing to talk to someone. Lobby and rooms are outdate and the walls of hotel needt to repainted real soon.

Really great hotel. I’ve stayed there in 2005 and was really surprised how everything was clean and neat. The best 3* hotel I’ve ever been to. All recommendations.

We enjoyed the location with all the restaurnats and stores in a short walk from Hali Hotel but we had problems during our stay: air-conditioning was broke (but they replaced it soon though), we had a TV with a non-working remote, didn’t like the style of rooms, too small

Having just returned from a 10 night stay a return trip is already in the planning. This is a very good hotel set in a fantastic position. Food is varied and good quality with a good sized internal buffet dining area and lobby bar. Staff are extremely friendly and efficient, hotel is well presented at all times. Never fear, don’t bother going all inclusive (drinks / snacks are no dearer than local bars) as less than 30 metres away you will find Bar for live music every night. Don’t miss the excellent restaurants in downtown for great music, 3 hours of great entertainment from 9 to midnight. Also visit the superb blue Mosque, the Topkapi Palace & nearby Spicy covered Market. Many places to see in walking distance. The hotel is fairly new, but in old building with antique architecture, really nice.

stayed at this hotel last month, great hotel but first the one negative in my trip. we were in room on second floor a great room with good views across the street, but we had a terrible sewerage smell in the room that got much worse with the aircon on. we asked for another room but unfortunatly the hotel was busy on no room was available till the day before we left. they did send someone round asap when we were told that sometimes the force of the sea backs the sewerage up the pipes. we ended up sleeping with window open. apart from that hotel had great food in the buffet restraunt, the bar in the lobby was a nice place to sit and eat. a good selection of restraunts across the road if you fancy a change one night. all in all a good hotel in good location (location is quiet) with good views, dispite the smell would go back as probably would not be in that room next time.

Excellent variety of food for breakfast, vegetarian food also available! Our Room 250 had an excellent view & was at the quiet end of the Hotel, which was good but quite a walk to the dining room. The twin beds in the room had extremely hard mattresses harder than orthopedic which we have at home, likewise the pillows. Some shops very close by. All attraction sights in walking distance. With the current exchange rate being as it is we found it an advantage to have a free breakfast! Popular places of interest ,like Spicy Market are just 5 minutes away!

The directions given on the travel websites were not optimal. I recommend taking their free shuttle from the airport. Just returned home from Hali hotel, august 2009. Really nice hotel calm relaxing atmosphere.Clean well maintained.Excellent staff although some staff in dining area, depending on day of the week are slow to clear used plates from tables whilst you are at the buffet.

- I’ve stayed here twice and both times the front desk staff were quick and helpful. The shuttle runs on time (or early), it is very convinent . Clean, quiet and an excellent Sunday brunch. Food available for vegetarians and diabetics. Very good buffet-style breakfast. Rooms has all you need, desk, cable tv, hair-dryer. If you need any extra towels stuff will be happy to assist.

Friendly and helpful staff. Great location, with all the sights within walking distance of the hotel. Make sure the Hali hotel does not allocate you any room that faces the back of the building because it is very dim. Do not purchase any drinks, groceries from local shops, instead go to the supermarkets opposite the hotel and next door, you will get everything almost half the price.

It has got everything, and all included in the rate. Wireless access, the best breakfast I’ve seen in a while. Currency exchange in hotel, coffee in lobby all day long, medical assistance if need be. Every employee I was in contact with were very friendly and attentive.

Hotel clean and well kept, bed is very comfortable with down blanket, breakfast has the usual good stuff, shuttle for airport FOR FREE. The only drawback is the building blocks all sun. Overall great place to stay, as the other hotels in the vicinity are well over $100+ a night..

The staffs were very welcoming, but when we were shown to our room,The staff were delightful - very friendly and helpful. The hard beds were incredibly comfortable, the shower was powerful and just what we needed. The decor was charming – I was expecting that from the hotel website’s description and pictures – but with a negative hat on, some parts looked shabby.

It was a single room with a grubby interior. The bed linen was ripped, the tv poor. The wiring to the tv was unsafe. On the positive side the bed was comfortable. I didnt stay for breakfast.

The hotel corresponds to its 3* category!!building is composed of 5 floors, the marvelous views over Bospor and St. Sofia during the breakfast. The food is plain (tea, coffee, tomatoes, cucumbers, two kinds of cheese, different jams, cakes, olives). You may have dinner or supper in a wide variety of small restaurants, cafes. The main advantage of the hotel is its location. It is in the heart of the historical center of Istanbul, near the Sultanhamet Moscue and Santt Sofia. There is the tram station fifty meters from Hali hotel. You can reach any part of the city with the modern tram. You should make the excursions! It is very interesting and beautiful city!.:-)

The hotel is wonderful. City view from roof restaurant is very chick. Ideally situated. From some rooms you may observe the walls of Hagia Sofia. 3 minutes walk an you are in the center of Constaninople. Laleli region is 12 minut by foot. Rooms are small but modest, clean and cozzy. Personnel is friendly and pleased. I mean, all hotel is cosy. Everybody has to visit Istanbul - it is very astonishing city, and it is impossible not to fall in love with istanbul!!!
