Olimpiyat hotel was ok, but not great. Furniture in our room was broken. I liked the size of the room though, not big, not small, just right. We had AC, TV with many channels, hair dryer, safebox, phone and minibar. I’d like to suggest an ironing board in rooms, cause we didn’t have any.

My wife and I spent three nites at the Olimpiyat. It’s not the best hotel I stayed at, we had holes in the linens and the window was broken, we couldn’t open it. I don’t think they take a good care of the rooms. However the hotel is centrally located and is very convinient to everything.

It is very located in the downtown, Istanbul. Other nearby hotels cost much more than this one. And this hotel also provides free internet access, room was air conditioned, had a minibar, phone ,satellite TV. Bathroom was also fine, had a hairdryer, toiletries. There is a la carte restaurant and bar on the first floor, no need to go and look for a place to eat, this hotel has it all, I reccomned it.

The room and hotel are average. The problem that we had during our stay was that water never gets hot, only warm despite getting a workman to switch something. There’s a grocery shop just across the road, local prices, cheap. It’s a quiet area. It’s not for children, but I’d strongly recommend it for a few days stop- over stay.

This small hotel is only few meters from the train station and ship terminal, great location to walk everywhere. The people at the reception desk were very nice and helpful, the room was clean. Good restaurant, bar.

My adult son and I stayed at Hotel Olimpiyat for six nights in January. We were assigned to Room on first floor, which had just been renovated, both room and bathroom. Because the room faced away from the street, there was no street noise. Breakfast was okay in what appeared to be a recently improved dining room on the first floor. The third and second floors were undergoing renovation during our stay making use of the stairs sometimes difficult, which meant using the problematic elevators. That was our only substantial complaint.

The location was very good. It was a bit of a let down that there was no fridge in the room. The room was clean and decent sized. Our shower had no curtain or closure so the bathroom got all wet while you were showering. The staff was friendly.

The location is good , but the room is very small and there was no fridge and not enough facilities in the room. The elevator is old and small. It is a little bit unreasonable to pay that much to book a single room like this.

We stayed at the Olimpiat for a few days in mid November 2008. The hotel is less than 5 minutes walk from the main attractions and it is on a quiet street, not as bad as other reviews I have read. The room was good size and remodelled. It was very clean, and the only problem with the room was that the shower doors had a very small opening that made it difficult for me to get in and out. Free wi-fi was available if you brought you own laptop. Rooms had a safe, telephone, AC. The breakfast was great, and overall stay was the same. I would deffinitely stay here again, and I only paid little with breakfast for 2 included!

I stayed at the Olimpiyat Hotel in November. Though this is a three star hotel it is top rate for the Budget traveller. The room is clean and decent (stayed at a double room). What is surprising to me is that you can get free wireless connection for your notebook. At another hotel I had to pay for this. If you don’t have a cable, they will provide it free. There is sattelite TV in room and a TV in the lobby. The location is great - right next to Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Ho=ippodrome, Grand Bazaar and shops. Many restaurents and food courts available too. All types of food available at inexpensive prices. It is a stragetic place where taxis will wait for you. It is also near the cruise ship terminal and train station Orient Express (5 minutes walk away). It is also a pickup point for other parts of Istanbul. Plenty of shops. Value for money.

I wanted to say that the pictures online give a false impression of the room as our room didn’t look like the pictures. These pictures must have been taken a while back. Now the rooms need to be renovated and painted cause our room was very outdated. On the positive note, really liked the hotels location and the breakfast was good.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel, mid Oct 08, on first arrival the hotel looks very nice and the ground floor lounge/bar very pleasing. Then you have to go to your room, in what must be the smallest and slowest lift in Turkey. The bed would have been 50 years old as would the rest of the furniture, the bathroom also dates back to ottoman times!!! all in all sort of disapointing. Only breakfast and location was really good.

Olimpiyat hotel is located in a place that I personally think is the best part of Istanbul to stay at!! Good people and greta attitude But I don’t have too much positive to say about housekeeping :(( room needs to be vaccuumed better (also under bed too!), dust on TV and so on...that would be my only complaint, the rest is great.

The people at the reception desk were very nice and helpful--our reservations were confused with my sisters’ as we all share last names, and the employees at the front desk were apologetic and very helpful in getting the problem straightened out. The rooms were clean although small, the shower was quite small). We actually stayed in two different rooms because we began and ended our trip in Istanbul. The first night, they lost our reservation and only had a very small room with a double bed. However, it cost only 50 $--quite a deal. The larger room that we had on our return was 60$, still very affordable. There’s AC in the rooms, and we were comfortable. Rooms were clean and simply furnished. There was some street noise on Saturday night, but it did not keep us from sleeping soundly. Breakfast was included in the price of the room. All in all, it was a nice, simple & affordable place to stay.thanks.
