Istanbul Miniaturk Museum - the whole country in miniature

Of one of the most amazing museums in Istanbul is Miniaturk museum. This is, as the name implies, a huge park which houses all the sights of Turkey in miniature. The park has a large space, where the green lawns overlook the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, towers of Ankara, landscapes of Cappadocia, the Church of St. Antoine and hundreds of other monuments to our full height. Each model is equipped with a device that has a tape recording of a brief story about the history of the sight. Organizers of Miniaturk also tried that the park itself looked like Turkey in miniature, so they’ve made artificial Bosphorus like a decent-sized pond, a bridge over it and scenic landscapes.

The location of Miniaturk is also interesting. The park is located right at the end of the Golden Horn Bay. Its width is less than ten meters! But let’s get back to Miniaturk. The park was designed and developed by professionals of Municipality of Istanbul. There are models of not only the Turkish sights, but there was a place for the Eiffel Tower and the British Tower and many other world famous buildings.

This stunning open-air museum has more than 100 copies of architectural monuments executed in a scale model of 1 to 25. In addition, there are two terraces, one glassed-in and the other - open-air, and a small cafe with a gift shop.

Miniaturk is open every day except Monday, from 10:00 to 17:00. The entrance fee is 7 lire, it is about $4,5.
