Dangers for health

In spite of the fact that Istanbul is a modern civilized city with normal ecology, it will be good to take care of your health there — no one wants to be sick, even with something not very serious, because of simple lack of attention to hygiene peculiarities.
As we know, every travel is a stress for organism, that weakens its immunity and reduces its resistance to infections. Moreover, many infections, habitual to local population, can be harmful for Europeans. This is why, you should respect the universal rules of hygiene if you are going to Istanbul.

Hygiene is the guarantee of health

This truth is relevant everywhere, but even in Istanbul, which is cleaner than most of southern countries, there is a risk to catch something unpleasant, like cholera or dysentery. So, don’t forget to wash your hands with soap. Taking into consideration that cases of cholera sometimes happen in Turkey, only careful hygiene can prevent the sickness — washing hands and using boiled water for washing face and fruit. In such way you will reduce your contact with crude water, where microbes can be found. As for potable water, it’s better to use only the bottled one and never drink running water.

Vaccinations — well-timed protection

Unfortunately, spending your vacation in Istanbul, it’s possible catch harder illnesses, so it is better to protect yourself beforehand — make an injection.

One of the main threats that can be removed with the help of vaccination is typhoid fever. This illness is spread in all southern countries. In order to protect yourself from it, you should make injection 1-2 weeks before your departure. Most Europeans maintain the immunity to the infection up to 5 years.

One more possible danger is malaria, spread by malaria mosquitos. If you get ill and don’t take any measures, your liver will be harmed irremediably. Malaria can be prevented with the help of pills that should be taken once a week during all the rest in exotic country, and during one month after return. Nevertheless, in case of fever during three years after the return, you should address doctor and explain him that you used to visit the country of risk and could catch malaria.
