The whole history of Turkish industry development is available for every curious visitor of the industrial museum Rahmi Koc ...The interesting and unusual museum, which is telling us about the development and history of Turkish industry, is located in Istanbul, on the north bank of Golden Horn. What its name is telling us?

Rahmi Koc – the museum founder, was born in 1930 in Ankara city, he is a very literate man and respected in Turkey. He was studying in Ankara firstly, after that - in Istanbul, and later in USA. Nowadays, he is the owner of the bachelor degree in industrial management area. Besides his success in business, Rahmi Koc is known in charity circle, and, of course, the foundation of the famous industrial museum is his desert.

The museum is located in the building of the anchoring casting Lengerhane section, which was built in 18th century at the time of Ahmed III reign. In several years the Rahmi Koc cultural fund has renovated the building and prepared it for the placement of the museum exhibits. The grand opening of the museum took place in 1994. In 2001 the museum has opened its doors for the second time after the permission and in count of the Haskoy dockyard, which is located in front of Lengerhane.

Industrial museum Rahmi Koc in Istanbul is presenting you different exhibits, which belong to Rahmi Koc himself, and, also, which were given to the museum from the organizations and private persons. All the exhibits are in different ways connected with manufacture development, transport and communication facilities’ history. In the museum you can find the exhibits, which are dedicated to the different areas of human life – road, railway, marine, aviation transport, engineering, communication facilities, scientific devices, models and, even, toys...

At this museum you can not only look at the exhibits, but, also, you can touch them. For example, you can take a sit in an antique car’s saloon or in a plane’s cabin and imagine if you are a pilot. So, this makes the museum interesting for both - adults and children. On weekend the museum sets up very interesting events, at which there is shown how do the things work, using the exhibits.
A museum works from Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 20:30, and on Saturday from 11:30 to 15:30.
