Pera museum is a discovery for the amateurs of culture and art. Here you can see the fine arts of different peoples and periods. Situated in Beyoglu district, the museum opened its doors recently – in 2005. The museum is located in the building of the ex-hotel “Bristol”, built in 1893 by the architect Achill Manoussos. The museum appeared due to the fund of Suna and Inan Kirac. Suna Kirac is the daughter of the famous industrial magnate – Vehbi Koc.

The museum presents to its visitors three constant exhibitions – a collection of Anatolian measures and weights, the ceramics from Kutahya and the artistic exhibition of the works of European artists from XVII to XIX century, and the works of the famous Turkish artist – Hamdi Bey. Among his works the one, called “the turtle trainer” is extremely popular.

The exhibition of the objects of Anatolian measures will surely attract the amateurs of history and archaeology – these objects, made of different materials with the help of different technologies will tell about the development of measuring devices, used in Anatolia in ancient times.

The collection of Oriental art of Suna and Inan Kirac includes more that three hundred unique works. And in combination with the pictures of the famous European artists it gives a great idea about the art of the last years of existence of the Ottoman empire.

Moreover, there are exhibitions in the museum which constantly change. For these exhibitions there are provided the halls on the third, fourth, and fifth floors. Most often different collections of foreign museums belong to such exhibitions. The displays are often so precious and unique that it is prohibited to take pictures of some exhibitions.
