One of the most unique districts of one of the most unique cities on Earth is Sultanahmet. So, what is so unique about that? Sultanahmet is the very heart of the old Istanbul. It is that very Constantinople, with all the Byzantine landmarks preserved in it. Magnificent Hippodrome with Egyptian and Greek columns, a huge underground water tank decorated with antique columns in it named Yerebatan, Hagia Sophia being one of the most beautiful temples in the world, and its counterpart - legendary Blue Mosque... All these are Sultanahmet, the ancient district in the centre of Istanbul, the focus of Byzantine, Roman, and Ottoman history.
