"Formula1" track in Istanbul Park is very young, however, it succeeded to establish a good reputation in the minds of all fans of this high-speed and spectacular sport. Positive reviews about this track in Kurtkoy come from "Formula" pilots, as well as from spectators and maintenance staff of races. It shouldn’t wonder you! This ultra-modern track, showing its best side for 4 seasons, was designed by experienced specialists. Head specialist was Hermann Tilke, a German architect, who became famous owing to his debut Bahrain and China Grand Prix projects. After he perfected his skills on these tracks, Tilke created a magnicient 5 738 meters long track project in Istanbul. |

- There are fourteen turns on the track. - Track surface consists of 5 layers. Four of them represent the highest quality road surface, and the fifth is devised especially and only for "Formula 1" races for better grip of the weels. - In Istanbul heats are held counter clock-wise. It is the third race in the calendar, after San-Marino and Brazil laps, which is held like in this way. - Istanbul lap is famous for high height level difference. The biggest slope is 8,145 grades. Abrupt turns and extensive straightways interchanges afford the pilots to show their style and manner of driving. - Security - the main priority of Istanbul track. Especially for extreme situations the outer radius of the most dangerous turns is surrounded by safety fields. "Adriyatik Tourism" company watches this project from its opening day. In November 2004 we assisted the mass-media tour to track construction. "Formula-1" admirers come gladly to Istanbul for years (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009). |
