Did you know...

…Istanbul is a town where a man got off the ground for the first time ever! Medieval chronicles fixed that there was a certain Ahmed Celebi who constructed wings from thin wood, went up to Galata Tower (61 m. high) and jumped down. Soaring on the wings he hopped Bosporus. However this didn’t bring money to Celebi. He was considered to be a sorcerer and was sent to Algeria.

Safety regulations for skyscrapers

Skyscrapers is a side effect of our civilization. These are comfortable houses that can accommodate even a small town of the beginning of the 20th century. This statement may be also used for Istanbul hotels in the downtown of the city. They have a lot of advantages, and only one disadvantage. They are big. And this means that - in case of technogenic catastrophe - the safety question comes up. We’ll give you some recommendations on survival in skyscrapers. Even if you’ll never use them, you should remember them.

... a fire

Being caught in high building, do not run downstairs through the flame, but use the possibility to be rescued through the roof of the building; do not forget to use a fire escape staircase. During the fire it is forbidden to use the elevator or lift - any time it can be disconnected. In addition, you will catch yourself in a trap because you can "hang" in the lift between burning floors and can get carbon monoxide poisoning. Getting out of the front door, hold your breath as long as you can, and even better - protect your nose and mouth with a wet scarf.

... an earthquake

If there are children somewhere in the building, it is necessary to take them immediately to the safe place, which can be inside doorways or internal corners of rooms. You should stay off from windows and external walls, bulky and high furniture. You can hide under a desk. Stones, beams, etc, falling from above, constitute the greatest danger.

Remember, that you can’t run out from the building during an earthquake because falling fragments and collapsing walls become the main cause of majority of victims. You’ll have a better chance to save your life if you will search for rescue in the place, where you are now. You should wait for the earthquake to end, and then you can leave the building. In no event do not try to get out the building by means of the elevator, which can get stuck or fall in the well.

... a hurricane

Stay away from the windows and take the safe place near the walls of internal premises, in a corridor, near the built-in closets, in bathrooms, in a toilet, in pantries, in strong closets, under tables. Turn off the fire in ovens; switch off the electric power, shut off taps on gas supply pipeline networks.

Certainly, construction of modern skyscrapers is executed in such a way to take in consideration the maximum of the interests of those who will be in this building. People’s lives and health are the priority. Therefore, more and more people today choose skyscrapers for offices and homes. In Istanbul there is a "down-town" - a place, where high buildings are located, too.

If you have a business trip in Istanbul, or if you like dynamic, young districts - then you need an Istanbul hotel in the downtown.
