Air Conditioner (AC): good or bad for you?
If you use air conditioner correctly you will have the opportunity to enjoy the climate and have spring in summer with no risk to your health. There is an Air Conditioner in every Istanbul hotel. If some Istanbul hotels have air conditioner, it means they are good. AC in Turkey is a very important thing, especially in hotels. But not many people know that air conditioner can be not only useful but also harmful if you don’t know how to use it. But if you know the advantages and disadvantages of AC, go ahead and use it.
Advantages of Air Conditioner
The first and the most important advantage is that AC is creating a comfortable climate. When it’s hot, it’s stressful; stress is bad for your health. The second advantage is that there is no bacteria living in the system like some people think. Pathogenic germs that spread in the air can only appear in central condition systems. They don’t have them in the hotels.
Another advantage of Air Conditioner is that in new modern models incoming air doesn’t meet outgoing air. It means that even if there is a sick person in the room, the germs won’t be spread.
One more advantage is that air still remains alive. Air filters in AC can stop the particles of dust, fur, insects and plants but can’t stop the air. That’s why the conditioned air becomes colder but it’s not artificial.
Disadvantages of Air Conditioner
There are a lot of people who aren’t recommended to stay in the room with Air Conditioner on. These are people who have chronic respiratory tract ailments.
A sudden change of temperatures is very harmful for body. That’s why don’t set the air temperature lower than +20 degrees in the room while it’s +30 outside. The difference should be not more than 3-4 degrees.
Unfortunately, the noise coming out of AC distracts some people and can bring headaches.
Another disadvantage is that according to what cosmetologists say conditioned air dries the skin. It leads to early aging. Normal temperature for skin is +23-24 degrees.

As you can see there are advantages and disadvantages of using air conditioner in an Istanbul hotel. Anyway, if you are travelling in summer time, you’ll need AC. As people say "Forewarned, forearmed". You are forewarned!
