How to learn to swim during Istanbul holidays.
For all of us recreation is, first of all, the water. It doesn’t matter where you travel. It may be the sea or mountains. Moreover, it may be a hotel in a city, for example, one of Istanbul hotels with indoor swimming pool. Anyhow, everybody likes to swim. Except those, who are not able to do that, but, certainly, want. And we shall teach you how to do that. Excuses like "I am afraid of water" are not accepted. You are not afraid of water. It is your habitat. First nine months of your life, - in your mother"s womb, - you have spent exactly in water. Did you feel bad?
Choose the place
For swimming lessons it is necessary to choose a small and not too deep pool (such indoor swimming pools are almost in each luxury hotel of Istanbul as a rule). The pool must be such that you could stand with straight legs, and the top part of your body was above water. If the pool is deep - just stand near hand-rail - on its shallow part.
Learn to lie on water
The usual mistake of everybody who starts learning to swim is that they... try to swim. You should not do that. First of all learn to lie on water. How? It"s very easy. Get hold of a side of the pool and stretch your legs. Draw a deep breath. Hold your breath for several seconds. You will feel that you are just lying on water, and not plunging into it. The next step - draw a deep breath, hold your breath, and set your hands free. Don’t be afraid. At any time you can stand on your legs. However, you will not need that. You will feel that you are lying on the water. This is an inexpressible feeling of weightlessness. So, welcome to the world of water. Now you are to make the next step.
Learn to oar with hands and legs
So, you already can lie on the water. Now you have to make a little work to learn the elementary movements of arms and legs. With legs everything is not easy, but very easy - start to splash with them, holding with hands of a side. Splash as much as you wish. By the way, this is also a good exercise for the abs and hips. Gradually lower your legs so that you splash with them under the water. Little swash from the impacts on the water surface will mean your correct work of legs. Then - hands. Lying on water - stretch one hand forward, another back. And now - just change their places. This is the stroke! Cope with legs and learn stroke, just do that simultaneously.
Forget about life buoys, oversleeves and life jackets
Many people think for some reason that inflatable devices will help them to master swimming more quickly. That’s not true! They only prevent you from learning to swim. The life jacket keeps you in vertical position high above the water surface. But you need to learn the elementary thing - to lay in horizontal position on the water surface. And a life jacket is your lungs full of air - inside of you.
As you can see, swimming is an easy and accessible sport and type of pleasure. And it is possible to learn it during Istanbul holidays very easily.
