Sirkeci Accommodation
Sirkeci - old Europe in the center of Istanbul
One of the most interesting small areas of Istanbul - Sirkeci - is located on the shore of the Golden Horn bay. Compact, cozy, home-like quiet and calm, Sirkeci attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists every year. Sirkeci relates to Sultanahmet area, so if you come to Istanbul to get acquainted with the unique culture and history of this city, Sirkeci accommodation is an ideal variant for you.
Hotels
Let’s start with the fact that most hotels in Sirkeci have three stars. This is due to the small size of the area where a large number of luxury five star palaces with the surroundings simply can’t be placed. Standard hotel in Sirkeci is a three star hotel with four or five floors, with cozy and comfortable, but small rooms. The view from the windows faces the Golden Horn or the streets of the Old City. In any case, it would be picturesque. Room rates vary depending on the number of services, breakfast and hotels’ star rating, but as a rule, the prices for Sirkeci hotels are slightly below average prices in Istanbul.

Sightseeing
This area is literally crammed with the sights, so the accommodation in Sirkeci gives you additional bonuses. For example, there is a railway station of the last century in Sirkeci, where the first steam engine of "Orient Express" is still standing. The very one the famous detective Agatha Christie wrote about. Incidentally, she had also visited Istanbul - by this very express - and some parts of her legendary detective she had written here looking out of the window of her room at the Golden Horn... In general, the construction of the railroad was both a plus and minus of Sirkeci. For example, to extend the rails, without thinking twice the builders decided to... demolish the sea walls of Topkapi Palace. And they did it! It was the 19 century, and people just didn’t understand what value these structures have. On the other hand, a railway appeared in the city...
Transport
There is Istanbul open subway in Sirkeci. This is a train, which passes Laleli, Sultanahmet, Sirkeci, Galata Bridge, and the final stop of which is under the hill where Taksim district is located. You can reach Taksim from here by the underground subway, which goes... three minutes.
Railway Station
Sirkeci station is an architectural monument. The marble face-work is in Byzantine style. The arches near the windows are Islamic. The Clock Tower - in Seljuk style. A real mixture of styles! There is a railway museum and a restaurant with dishes of the Ottoman cuisine. Well, in addition to its own attractions, Sirkeci can "show" you the monuments of Sultanahmet district being a part of it itself.
